Ingredients:
- Amla (Nellikkai) - 6 nos
- Urad Dal (Ulunthu Paruppu) - 10 gm
- Moong Dal (Cheru Payaru) - 10 gm
- Cumin Seeds (Jeeragam) - 1 teaspoon
- Red Chilies (Vara Milagai) - 2 nos
- Grated Coconut (Thengai Thuruval) - 1/4 cup
- Any edible oil - 2 teaspoons
- Salt - to taste
Procedure:
- Cut the Amla into small pieces and remove the seeds.
- Heat a pan with two teaspoons of oil and add the cumin seeds, moong dal, urad dal, and red chilies.
- Add the Amla pieces to the pan and fry for three minutes.
- Add the grated coconut to the pan and stir for a minute.
- Add a pinch of salt, then transfer the fried contents from the pan to a mixer jar and blend until smooth.
- Once the chutney is ground to your desired consistency, store it in a bowl or bottle.
This chutney can be served as an alternative to pickles or as a side dish, perfect with rice or chapathis.
