Amla Chutney





Ingredients:

  • Amla (Nellikkai) - 6 nos
  • Urad Dal (Ulunthu Paruppu) - 10 gm
  • Moong Dal (Cheru Payaru) - 10 gm
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeeragam) - 1 teaspoon
  • Red Chilies (Vara Milagai) - 2 nos
  • Grated Coconut (Thengai Thuruval) - 1/4 cup
  • Any edible oil - 2 teaspoons
  • Salt - to taste

Procedure:

  1. Cut the Amla into small pieces and remove the seeds.
  2. Heat a pan with two teaspoons of oil and add the cumin seeds, moong dal, urad dal, and red chilies.
  3. Add the Amla pieces to the pan and fry for three minutes.
  4. Add the grated coconut to the pan and stir for a minute.
  5. Add a pinch of salt, then transfer the fried contents from the pan to a mixer jar and blend until smooth.
  6. Once the chutney is ground to your desired consistency, store it in a bowl or bottle.

This chutney can be served as an alternative to pickles or as a side dish, perfect with rice or chapathis.
